The Marvel Hotel: Presentation

The Marvel Hotel is located next to Disney Village, opposite Disney’s New Port Bay Club, and on the shores of Lake Buena Vista. It is one of the resort’s two 4-star properties.

Those of you who, like us, knew the aging Hotel New York before it was renovated, will surely be thrilled to discover the new one. Its new style perfectly reflects the fusion between the old hotel and its new theme, a fusion of all the codes of New York and those of the Marvel universe.

From the outside, there are no major changes, apart from a coat of paint on the exterior façade to give it a facelift and, above all, a more New York style.

An hotel? No, a Marvel museum with over 1,400 exclusive exhibits.

It’s true that New York the Art of Marvel is more than just a hotel. It’s a truly immersive experience in the world of American comic books. Starting with the lobby, perhaps the most breathtaking part of the property, Walt Disney Imagineering and management have spared no expense to give you your money’s worth.

Spanish artist Carlos Gomez under his comic book panels designed for the hotel lobby

As you enter the hotel lobby, you’ll be greeted by huge backlit panels depicting Marvel comic characters, created by Spanish artist Carlos Gomez. Black Panther, Thor, Doctor Strange, Hulk: Marvel superheroes watch over guests from the moment they enter.

Throughout the hotel there are more than 1,400 works of art, including 50 unique pieces created by around twenty Marvel artists. Even the lift doors on each floor have been given a new look. In fact, each floor is dedicated to a superhero. So don’t hesitate to explore every floor and every nook and cranny to discover the largest collection of Marvel artwork available to the public.

Our editorial tip

Book a tour with an Art Guardian as soon as possible, ideally on arrival! The tour is free and reserved for residents only. Time slots fill up quickly!

How much does it cost to stay at Disney’s Marvel Hotel

We’d like to tell you that it’s accessible to everyone, but the price of this 4-star plus is not cheap. But love can’t be bought, can it?

Superhero Rooms at the Marvel Hotel

Let’s face it: the comfort of New York’s Art of Marvel rooms is unmatched. Not to mention the level of theming. We were lucky enough to spend two nights in a Superior room overlooking the lake. A standard room indeed, but what an experience!

At Hotel Marvel you can choose from the following 565 rooms and suites:

  • 471 Superior rooms
  • 67 Empire State Club rooms
  • 25 Superhero Suites
  • 2 Presidential Suites

Mirror, my beautiful mirror…

When Disney promises you ‘New York themed rooms, sublimated with MARVEL art’, trust me, they mean it! Even if you’re not on a Tony Stark budget, the standard rooms at the Empire State Club will set you back a fortune. When you walk into your bedroom, it greets you with a personal message that is inlaid into the mirror, which is actually a mirror for your TV. Classy, isn’t it?

Park Tickets, photos, keys: all about your Magic Pass

When you arrive at Hotel New York and other hotels, you will be given your Magic Pass, a secure card that you will use throughout your stay. It allows you to access your room and pay in shops and restaurants.

Available New York-themed rooms

Here are the room types available:

  • Superior Room with Garden View or Disney Lake View: There’s nothing ‘cheap’ about the ‘budget’ rooms at the Marvel Hotel! Soft lighting, meticulous décor ranging from carpets to a contemporary ‘spider web’ motif, superhero paintings, a coffee maker and a TV in the mirror: it’s easy to feel like you’re in Manhattan!
  • Empire State Club Room: For a little extra money, you’ll be entitled to an Iron Man-inspired room with a VIP welcome, access to the private lounge for breakfast and non-alcoholic drinks all day.
  • Themed Suites: There are 4 themed suites: Spider-Man, Captain America, Superheroes and Avengers. They give access to VIP rooms with exclusive décor, such as the giant backlit Spider-Man painting. The curtains have a pattern reminiscent of Spidey’s paintings.
  • The Art of Marvel Presidential Suite: The Art of Marvel Suite is just like Tony Stark: chic, rich and elegant. Admittedly, not many of us will have the chance to spend a night in this two-storey suite with its own piano.

Food & Drinks at Disney’s Hotel New York

When you say 4 stars, you mean top class restaurants! The Marvel Hotel has two restaurants and two bars, each with its own New York ambience and décor as sensational as the rest of the hotel.

The Manhattan Restaurant

The cuisine at Manhattan Restaurant is inspired by the gourmet Italian restaurants found in New York’s Little Italy. It is the most refined restaurant in the hotel and therefore the most expensive. It is also the only restaurant with table service.

Manhattan Restaurant at Disney's Hotel New York

The menu at Manhattan Restaurant is very extensive: antipasti, soups, pasta, risotto, Italian and Mediterranean dishes. Choosing is very complicated. In addition to the à la carte dishes, the restaurant offers the following menus

Greenwich Village Menu from €49 per person with starter, main course and dessert (wine included with the €69 menu)
Little Italy children’s menu from €30
Disney Check menu – for those who want to pay attention to what they are eating
Please note: If you would like to dine here, we strongly recommend that you book well in advance. You can do this via your Disneyland Paris app.

The Downtown Restaurant: all-you-can-eat American, Italian and Asian buffets

Now it’s time for the second restaurant in New York’s The Art of Marvel hotel: the Downtown Restaurant and its all-you-can-eat buffet! The Downtown concept is much more than just a buffet: it is a combination of 3 buffets, each representing a different part of New York’s gastronomy: Chinatown and its Asian cuisine, Little Italy and its Italian cuisine and, of course, Manhattan.

Downtown Restaurant

From ribs to burgers, from spring rolls to coleslaw, you’ll be able to indulge in all sorts of culinary delicacies.

In terms of price, there are only two options on the menu:

The adult buffet at €42
The children’s buffet at €30 (3-11 years)
Except for those lucky enough to be staying in an Empire State Club suite or room, breakfast is served in the same restaurant, with an à la carte continental breakfast.

Bleeker Street Lounge

Fans of Doctor Strange will know that this bar is dedicated to the Avengers’ wizard, whose shrine is located in New York at 177A Bleeker Street.

Bleeker Street Lounge Bar at Disney's Hotel New York

This bar offers a cosy atmosphere for enjoying cocktails (with or without alcohol) with family and friends, located near the lobby and adjacent to the garden. Children love the Mystic Glow cocktail with its glowing ice cube.

The drinks menu is varied enough to please everyone: wines, organic beers, IPAs and ciders. There’s even a selection of sweet and savoury snacks for those who feel a bit peckish.

The Skyline Bar

If you’re lucky, you might see Iron Man soaring outside the hotel or Spider-Man coming down from the end of his web. Paradoxically, the Skyline is not on the roof, but on the ground floor of the New York hotel, near the entrance hall.

The star of Skyline is its extra-large interactive window, which offers an unrivalled view of the Queen Jet and the Empire State Building. This chic bar with its breathtaking views of the New York skyline is the ideal place to sip a cocktail made in the USA, with or without alcohol.

The bar also serves a range of Italian-American snacks, including crab cakes, chicken wings and hummus with baby vegetables.

This bar is unique in Disneyland Paris, and the staff will be on hand for all your superhero needs.

As Super Hero Station is only accessible by reservation, it is important to book your ticket in advance. You can do this via your Disneyland Paris application. Our advice: book well in advance, as the first morning slots are very popular.

The Marvel Design Studio

Ever heard of the ‘Marvel Bullpen’, the name of the team of cartoonists who worked for the publisher in the 1960s? The name was invented by Stan Lee and is the most famous publishing group in the world of comics.

Marvel Design Studio

Designed by Imagineers to put kids in the shoes of a comic book artist, the Marvel Design Studio. Kids can sit down and learn how to draw Iron Man’s helmet and follow other tutorials. Tablets are also available to play Marvel games.

The Hero Training Zone

This zone includes a huge 420m2 multi-activity sports field covered in a giant fresco of Iron Man and Captain America. Basketball, football, trampoline: if the mini-superheroes aren’t tired enough, they can let off all the steam they want.

And when it’s time to relax, there’s nothing like a dip in the New York Metro-style swimming pool.

The Metro Pool

Not far from the Hero Training Zone is the Marvel Hotel’s swimming pool, the Metro Pool, the hotel’s heated and supervised indoor pool. The Marvel Hotel also has an indoor pool and an outdoor pool. Ideal for a dip in both summer and winter.

The Boutique

Yes, the Hotel Shop is an attraction in itself and an activity for Disney shopping fans! Here you’ll find some exclusive merchandising items you won’t find anywhere else at DLP. Limited edition Funko Pops, collectible posters and the hotel’s signature perfume are just some of the items available for purchase.

Our Review of the Marvel Hotel

Notre avis

Our quick opinion of the Marvel Disney Hotel

Situation : 5 / 5

Apart from the Disneyland Hotel, it’s hard to find a hotel closer to the parks and Disney Village! The central location is a real plus for families, and what can I say about the view over the lake? It’s also very close to all the other hotels where you can eat out or meet the characters.

Rooms : 5 / 5

Of all the hotels I have stayed in, I have rarely had so few negative comments about a room. The 4 nights we spent in the Superior Room were simply magical, the Marvel decor is sublime, not to mention the suites. The hexagonal Spiderman suite is stunning.

Food : 5 / 5

We were more than pleasantly surprised by our meals at the Downtown and Manhattan restaurants. The Downtown buffet is probably the best in Disneyland Paris, and Manhattan’s cosy atmosphere and refined dishes won over the whole family.

Activities : 4 / 5

There’s never a dull moment at Hotel Marvel! If you want to work out, there’s plenty to do! If you’d like to meet your favourite heroes and take some great photos in the worlds of Spiderman, Thor and Iron Man, the Super Hero Station is the place to be.

Our verdict

Admittedly, the price of the Marvel Disney Hotel is quite high. But what an experience! Quite simply, my children swear by this hotel! You have to admit that the level of theming is amazing. Every decorative object hides a reminder of the Marvel world. You literally don’t know where to look in this hotel!

New York the Art of Marvel is much more than just a hotel. Like the Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser Hotel at Walt Disney World, it offers an immersive adventure into the world of your favourite superheroes like nowhere else in the world!
